Help Us Buy A Multi-Sport Court For "Summer" Programs at Winthrop Rink.
When people hear "Winthrop Rink," they imagine ice skating outside under gently falling snow. And for good reason, because our "Winter" season is amazing! But what about the other 8 months?
Winthrop Rink's "Summer" season (Spring, Summer, and Fall) is where we see our greatest opportunity for growth. In 2023, we launched a whole new series of programs: Doubles Pickleball League, Co-Ed Ball Hockey League, and Youth Sports Camps. Next year, we plan to do those and more, including our first-ever summer tournament series for pickleball, ball hockey… maybe even basketball and soccer. The opportunities are endless.
To make that possible, we need to install a multi-sport court surface to optimize the rink's concrete surface for Summer use. These composite, click-together tiles improve traction, ease joint strain, and are porous so that rain passes right through. In September, we tested a sport court system for two weeks at the rink. It quickly dried off, even after hosing it down with a firehose! That's the reliability we need to hold tournaments, leagues, and drop-in programming.

Sponsorship at the Winthrop Rink has never been easier! Purchase a puck for the Puck Wall and print your name, business, or friend’s name to show your support for the rink. Pucks are valid for a year and all proceeds go to our equipment replacement fund. Select “Puck Wall” during the online donation process, or email jillmcalvert@gmail.com
