Give Methow 2024

Have you heard?

The Winthrop Rink now operates as a four-seasons sports facility. Most people know us for our cold-weather sports like ice hockey and figure skating. With the installation of our multi-sport court surface (thanks Give Methow 2023 donors!), the Rink now offers an increased number of warm-weather sports, including basketball, soccer, and dodgeball.

But something else has increased with these new sports… the number of balls flying out of bounds and onto the parking lot. (And our neighbor's hay fields… sorry, horsies!) The Rink's 10-foot perimeter glass isn't tall enough to catch those stray soccer kicks, dodgeball throws, and ball hockey shots.

For our Give Methow 2024 campaign, just $20 will help support our planned upgrades to audience and player-safety around the rink. For warm-weather sports, these include a 5-foot safety net extension above the glass. And for cold-weather sports, a spring-loaded safety glass system for our scorer's booth to soften collisions. (Which, by the way, are also sure to increase this cold season with the return of full-contact collegiate ice hockey to the Winthrop Rink. That's right, mark on your calendars the night of November 23, 2024, when Western Washington University will face off against Washington State University in our collegiate Great Outdoors Classic! More details to come...)

With your support, we can keep more balls (and pucks) in play, where the action is hot! (And, well, also cold!)
