Overview

The Winthrop Rink Front Desk Staff acts as cashier and customer service representative during the winter ice season. The Front Desk Staff positions report directly to both, Manager and Assistant Manager (when a Manager is not present). The Front Desk Staff will serve as the first point of contact with rink visitors with visitor safety and satisfaction serving as the top priorities.

key responsibilities

  • Basic opening and closing tasks including: unlocking/locking doors, cleaning of floors and bathrooms, reconciling the tills each night, etc.

  • Act as one of the faces of the rink during the winter months greeting all customers with a positive attitude and helping to make the experience enjoyable for everyone that visits the rink.

  • Aid Assistant Manager in organizing and hosting ice skating birthday parties.

  • Responsible for cash register procedures such as making change, reconciling till at the end of the day, balancing till, and recording daily numbers

  • Ice skate rental distribution and return, drying, buckling and racking skates

  • Operate concession area

  • Ice guard duties including enforcing rink Rules of Conduct

  • Maintain cleanliness of office, restrooms, locker rooms, and viewing room

  • Assist with snow removal from rink and walkways as needed

  • Communicate safety or other concerns with rink manager or shift supervisor

  • Respond to accidents/incidents on the ice and in the facility in a calm and appropriate manner

Hours: vary weekly, but range from 3-8 hours per shift

Length of Appointment: 17 weeks: November 1, 2023 - February 28, 2024
