Overview

The Winthrop Rink Shift Supervisor oversees the daily activities and front desk staff during their shift at the rink. The Shift Supervisor also acts as the lead cashier for the rink and serves as the primary responsible party when a Manager is not present. The Shift Supervisor will also serve, alongside Front Desk Staff, as the first point of contact with rink visitors with visitor safety and satisfaction serving as the top priorities.

key responsibilities

  • Act as lead personnel and oversee front desk staff staff when a Manager is not present.

  • Act as one of the faces of the rink during the winter months greeting all customers with a positive attitude and helping to make the experience enjoyable for everyone that visits the rink.

  • Basic opening and closing tasks including: unlocking/locking doors, cleaning of floors and bathrooms, reconciling the tills each night, etc.

  • Facilitate ice skating birthday parties

  • Responsible for cash register procedures such as making change, reconciling till at the end of the day, balancing till, and recording daily numbers

  • Access safe as needed

  • Work in concert with Zamboni drivers to make decisions on ice and sessions when a Manager is not present.

  • Assist Manager and Program Coordinator with tournament direction and/or coordination

  • Assist Manager and Program Coordinator with program support, including, but not limited to WAHA youth hockey, Learn to Skate, Skate Club after school program, and 4th Grade Skate Free field trips.

  • Help with assembly of policies, operating procedures, notebook of resources.

  • Responsible for cleaning and standard cashier closing tasks as necessary.

  • Maintain orderly and stocked first aid and emergency equipment.

  • Standard snow removal responsibilities when necessary.

  • Respond to accidents/incidents on the ice and in the facility in a calm and appropriate manner

  • Assist Managers as needed during shift

Hours: 15-30 hours/week (varies slightly each week, possibly more for holidays and tournaments).

Length of Appointment: 20 weeks: October 25 to March 13 (extra weeks in March TBD)

Wage: $20-$22 per hour, DOE
