  Freestyle

Freestyle is primarily for skaters to practice spins, jumps, and moves in the field (edge control, balance, and power).

Details

These sessions are open for skaters ages 5 and up to practice independently or take private lessons. All skaters must adhere to the following protocol:

Protocol and etiquette

  • Follow the counterclockwise direction of traffic unless in a lesson, program, or practicing a skill that requires the opposite direction.

  • Music will be played on a fair rotation, those in a lesson have the right to “bump” one time.

  • Spins should be done in the center of the ice between blue lines and the center circle.

  • Avoid standing in the center of the ice. Please stand next to the boards when not moving.

  • Be patient—we’re all learning!

  • Skaters, Parents, and Coaches will always show respect for each other and the facility.

  • The use of headphones on the ice is prohibited.

  • Parents or coaches from other rinks should notify the rink before coaching during a freestyle session.

Who Has the Right Of Way?

  1. Skaters running their program with music

  2. Skaters in a lesson

  3. Skaters setting up a jump pattern

Session Times

Tuesdays* 4:00 PM–5:00 PM

Sundays 4:15 PM–5:45 PM

*Tuesday session will only be half-ice, with Figure Skating Lessons on the other half.

Age Eligibility

  • Skaters ages 5-and-up are allowed to participate.

We're located just across the Spring Creek Bridge from the Town of Winthrop. Get directions. For general parking, please use upper lot. For ADA parking and deliveries, use lower lot.
