Zamboni Driver

Do you dream of driving the most legendary machine on ice? The Winthrop Rink is looking for dedicated Zamboni Crew Members to help keep our ice world-class all winter long.

This is more than just a driving gig—you’ll be part of the behind-the-scenes crew that makes outdoor skating in the Methow Valley possible. From perfecting the ice sheet to keeping snow at bay, you’ll play a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for our skaters.

What you’ll do:

  • Resurface the ice with the Zamboni (a crowd favorite!)

  • Perform machine maintenance: propane fills, blade changes, board brush upkeep

  • Keep daily logs of ice cuts, snow removal, and maintenance tasks

  • Clear snow with equipment like tractors, blowers, and (sometimes) good old-fashioned shovels

  • Repair dasher boards and glass as needed

  • Sharpen skates for both rentals and customers

  • Pitch in with facility upkeep, cleaning, and customer service when needed

  • Stay flexible—early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays come with the territory when snow and skates are involved

Job Details:

  • Seasonal Position: November - March

  • Hours: Up to 35 hours/week; schedule varies (weekends + holidays required)

  • Pay: $22/hour starting for new drivers

Who you are:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly

  • Comfortable working in cold, wet, and slippery conditions

  • Reliable, flexible, and ready to tackle unexpected challenges

  • A people person who can engage with rink visitors and enforce policies kindly but firmly

  • Available for a minimum of 2 shifts per week

  • Willing to complete up to 10 training sessions (includes shadowing and hands-on practice). Training does not guarantee hiring—final approval by the Rink Director and Rink Manager required

If you’re looking for a unique seasonal job where you get to operate heavy equipment, maintain some of the best outdoor ice in the Northwest, and be part of a fun, hardworking crew—we want to hear from you!
