Tournaments & Events Manager
The Tournaments & Events Manager is the primary coordinator for tournaments and sports events. Working as a member of the rink’s year-round Management Team, they ensure that tournaments and sports events are well-organized, welcoming, financially sustainable, and aligned with Winthrop Rink’s mission.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, energetic, self-directed, and passionate about building community through arena sports at the Winthrop Rink. They enjoy working with people, solving problems, managing details, and creating memorable experiences for participants of all ages.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary
Tournaments & Events Leadership
Plan, organize, and execute Winthrop Rink-hosted tournaments and sports events.
Develop event timelines, logistics plans, staffing plans, and operational procedures.
Coordinate participant registration, scheduling, communications, and event-day operations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for teams, participants, officials, volunteers, and event partners.
Evaluate and implement improvements that strengthen participant experience and operational efficiency.
Sports Administration
Work with Rink Management Team to coordinate registration, gear rental program, youth house leagues, scrimmage events, and rink-hosted tournaments.
Maintain registration systems, participant records, schedules, and communications.
Support the development of new tournaments and sports events that increase community participation and year-round facility use.
Monitor participation trends and identify opportunities for program growth and improvement.
Volunteer Coordination
Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers for tournaments and sports events.
Foster a positive and rewarding volunteer experience.
Develop systems that strengthen volunteer retention and engagement.
Community Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, local businesses, tourism partners, and user groups.
Help identify opportunities for collaboration that advance Winthrop Rink’s mission and strengthen community connections.
Represent Winthrop Rink in a professional and positive manner throughout the community.
Participant Experience
Ensure all participants, families, volunteers, and visitors experience a welcoming, inclusive, and well-organized environment.
Address concerns and resolve challenges in a timely and professional manner.
Help cultivate a culture that reflects Winthrop Rink’s values of community, sportsmanship, inclusion, and stewardship.
